
On the central square of Chisinau, the opposition rally ended. According to the police, about one and a half thousand people participated in it. The action took place without incidents, RIA Novosti correspondent reports from the scene.
The rally adopted a resolution with the demand for political freedoms, the release of the detainees during the riots on April 7, and the admission of lawyers to them. The organizers of the action stated that they were conducting a “peaceful rally against the communist junta,” and that the opposition does not intend to negotiate with the Party of the Communists, which won the election.
There were very few youth at the rally, mostly people of middle and older and older came. There were practically no police in the center of Chisinau - a dozen police officers were watching the order.
Before the start of the action, the loudspeakers broadcast Romanian music. The Romanian flag that appeared over the gathered quickly disappeared somewhere.
On April 7, the opposition protests resulted in mass riots, the president’s residence and parliament were defeated. Then, over the residence of the president, the crowd hoisted the Romanian flag, the calls of Moldova’s accession to Romania sounded.
