In August 2007, the troupe of the Vakhtangov Theater presented a new artistic director - Rimas Tuminas. One of the best directors of Lithuania, Tuminas is headed by the Maly Drama Theater of Vilnius. The theater regularly happens with tour in Moscow and is constantly participating in the Baltic House festival, which is held annually in St. Petersburg. Tuminas's performances “Smile to us, Lord”, “Masquerade”, “Madagascar” are loved by spectators and critics.
Galina Volchek lured Rimas Tuminas to Moscow. At her invitation in “Contemporary”, Tuminas first set “playing ... Schiller” on the tragedy “Maria Stuart” - with Marina Neelova, Elena Yakovleva and Igor Kvashya in the main roles; The performance has been in the repertoire for several years. And in 2007, Rimas Tuminas put in the "Contemporary" "Woe from Wit". Even before the head of the Vakhtangov Theater, Tuminas made on his stage the Gogol's "Examiner"; Gorodnichy brilliantly played by Sergey Makovetsky.
“ After the premiere of“ Trola and the Cressids ”, which Tuminas released as an artistic director, ” we wrote then “ it became clear: Tuminas brought the Vakhtangov Theater to the leader of the season. To imagine that in such a short time of such different actors a powerful ensemble would be able to add up, it was impossible ... folk, well -deserved gray hair, and very young, all unknown.
When Rimas Tuminas in a new quality was presented to the troupe, it was immediately clear who and how was reacted to a new purpose. But what does the smart leader mean! He occupied Lanovoy and Irina Kupchenko in the work on the two one -act plays "The Last Moon"; He suggested to his beloved director Sukhanov - Vladimir Mirzoev - to release “in anticipation of Godo” Beckett; He himself immediately began the Shakespearean play “Troil and the Cressida”; The choreographer Angelica Kholina made an excellent performance “The Coast of Women” with young actors, graduates of the Schukin school ... And the performances “Matrenin Dvor” and “White Acacia” were also published.
Thus, Tuminas offered the actors good roles - and this is a real panacea from theatrical intrigues . "
It turned out that not a panacea. A week ago, rumors crawled around Moscow that a group of actors of the Vakhtang theater complained about Rimas Tuminas into the Ministry of Culture. And the other group sent a letter to the Ministry of Culture to its defense. The fact that the letter was received was confirmed by the head of the theater art department of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Sofya Apfelbaum :
- According to personnel appointments, the Ministry does not give any official comments. Nothing was decided at the official level, no documents have been signed by the Minister.
- And the letter from the actors received?
- Yes, received. But so far, no documents are officially signed by the Minister. That is, we can say something when there is an order or something else like that. So far there is nothing. And the letter really lies with me - with a huge number of signatures.
While there is no official decision, we quote a letter in the name of the Minister of Culture Alexander Avdeev: “We, the artists of the troupe of the Vakhtangov Theater, knowing that in the summer of 2009 the contract expires with our artistic director Rimas Vladimirovich Tuminas, we are asking you to extend the contract. And thereby give us the opportunity to continue the unique creative interaction with one of the talented directors Our time, whose performances do not leave indifferent a single viewer and are, as we hope, worthy of the continuation of the best traditions of the Vakhtangov Theater. "
Under the letter - 60 signatures: Irina Kupchenko, Sergey Epishev, Vladimir Vdovichenkov, Vladimir Simonov, Evgeny Karelskiy, Maria Aronova, Nonna Grishaeva, Maxim Sukhanov, Julia Rutberg, Sergey Makovetsky ... The scatter is from very young to folk artists, including the Elder of the theater, the head of the corpse, Galina Lvovna. Konovalov. The letter dated April 22.
Journalists, as in the case of the Union of Cinematographers, launched the word "schism". But while the split is not visible: Tuminas rehearses "Uncle Vanya." Cast: Sergey Makovetsky, Vladimir Vdovichenkov, Vladimir Simonov, Anna Dubrovskaya, Lyudmila Maksakova.
