In Riga, the court allowed to conduct a gay parade

The Riga Administrative District Court canceled the ban on the Riga Duma to hold the Baltic Gay-Parade in the capital of Latvia. As RIA Novosti reports, the representative of the court said this. The decision of the Duma was challenged by the public organization of sex minorities "Mosaic".

The Commission on Meetings, Processions and Pickets of the Duma, which previously allowed the holding in the Latvian capital on May 16 of the Baltic gay parade, on Thursday decided to cancel its decision and banned the event due to the fact that most deputies condemned it.

Gay parade takes place in Riga every year. Representatives of sexual minorities from the Baltic and Scandinavia countries usually take part in it. Opponents of the gay parade on this day arrange protests. In 2007, about a thousand opponents of the parade tried to throw with firecrackers its participants.

May 16, on the day of the Eurovision final, the shares of the Gay community are also planned in Moscow. Meanwhile, the Moscow police had already warned that he would stop any attempts to conduct unauthorized shares. “In case of attempts to hold unauthorized shares, they will be harshly suppressed, but within the framework of the current legislation,” said Alexander Ivanov, the acting head of the Moscow Central Internal Affairs Directorate of Moscow.

Earlier it was reported that representatives of sexual minorities plan to hold the Slavic Gay Parade in Moscow with the participation of foreigners on the day of the competition finals. The parade will not be limited only to street actions, cultural and political events will also be held, the International Day of confrontation of homophobia will be celebrated at the same time, the organizer of the action Nikolai Alekseev said.

"We will look for options for a legal action, but if there is no positive decision, then this will not limit our actions in any way. We will go to the action anyway, regardless of the decision of the authorities," Alekseev said, noting that "the right to the will of citizens is spelled out in the Constitution, and we demand its implementation."
