Moldavian pensioner wants to become president and thereby reconcile the Communists with the opposition

Moldavian pensioner Alexei Zubal expressed a desire to run for the presidency of the republic during the elections scheduled for May 28 . This was reported by Interfax with reference to a member of the special parliamentary commission for the presidential election, deputy from the Party of Communists Yuri Muntean. The non -partisan pensioner turned to the commission on Friday and announced his readiness to run.

The pensioner said that as a neutral candidate would like to participate in the elections in order to try to reconcile power and opposition and overcome the political crisis. Previously, he appealed to the deputies from the opposition parties, but they refused to support his candidacy.

According to Muntean, the commission may consider registration, if all the documents are submitted, including written confirmation to support the candidate from the group of deputies in the amount of at least 15 people. The commission completes the reception of documents on Friday at midnight.

Until now, the candidates of the current Prime Minister Zinaida Grechana have been registered (they are trying to choose it again - the opposition tore off the first elections) and the Moldova Ambassador to Russia Andrei Negots. Both candidates are nominated by the Party of the Communists.

If the parliament does not manage to choose the president on the second attempt, he will be dissolved, and new elections await the country.
