In the city of Balahna, the Nizhny Novgorod region on Saturday night, unknown people set fire to the mosque building under construction, reports Interfax-religion with reference to the statement of the spiritual department of Muslims of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Now the building is most likely not to be restored, although it was planned to complete construction work and open the mosque this year.
“The mosque stood under the roof, decorative work was completed, and today the doors and windows were supposed to bring there. However, on Saturday, it was found that one charred skeleton remained from the mosque. The roof, a log house,” said in a message.
In the muftiyat, it is noted that in two months the mosque is set on fire a second time. “For the first time, this happened on the twenties of April, but then we wrote off it for hooliganism, children's pranks and did not contact the police,” the spiritual administration said.
According to the muftiyat, there were no prerequisites, in particular threats, for arson. Muslims are preparing an application to law enforcement agencies.
