The head of the Dagestan Ministry of Internal Affairs was killed in Makhachkala

On Friday in the afternoon in Makhachkala, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan Adilger Magomedtagirov was shot dead, RIA Novosti reports with reference to a source in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The minister died from a wound to the region of the heart.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was shot at the wedding celebration in the Marrakesh hall. According to preliminary data, a sniper shot from the roof of a nearby building. The head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan Mark Tolchinsky confirmed information about the attempt on the minister. According to him, as a result of the attempt, the head of the Directorate of Tax Crimes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan also was injured.

This is not the first attempt on the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who held the post of Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan for more than ten years. They attacked Magomedtagirov on August 2, 2006, when he was traveling to the place of murder of the city prosecutor Buinaksk Bitar Bitarov. Then, on the Makhachkala - Buinaksk highway, an ambush was organized. As a result of the explosion of two powerful landmines and the subsequent shelling of the minister’s car, two of his guards were killed.

On February 4, 2007, a car captain Magomed Magomedov, who is the son of a personal friend of Magomedtagirov, was fired on the same highway. Magomedov died on the spot from the received gunshot wounds. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs went to the scene personally. At the entrance to the scene under the engineer, a bomb exploded. As a result, three people were killed, Magomedtagirov was not injured.

Adilger Magomedtagirov, who was previously the head of the Derbent City Department of the Interior, was appointed to the post of Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan in May 1998.
