Toyota Japanese Avtorporporation won the rating of the reliability of new cars in the US market, compiled by JD Power and Associates.
JD Power has a rating based on a survey of 81,000 American buyers of new cars purchased in late 2008 - early 2009. The breakdowns and malfunctions of cars were taken into account, which were found in the first 90 days of possession.
The average malfunction for new cars in the United States amounted to 108 defects for every 100 cars sold.
According to Vedomosti , in 2009 the most reliable machines were called the Lexus luxury brand belonging to Toyota. These are models IS, GS, GX, LS, RX and LX. The leader in this area Lexus cars are already 12 times. Its indicator is 84 problems per 100 cars.
The second place in terms of the reliability of new cars went to the German automaker Porsche , who took first place a year ago. Its indicator is 90 problems for 100 cars. And Cadillac , belonging to General Motors, closes the top three, which rose from 10th place in a year.
The most significant jump was made by the Japanese car company Suzuki , rising in the ranking from 32nd to 9th place. The South Korean Hyundai , which took 4th place, improved positions, while a year ago she took only the 13th line.
Cars of the brands belonging to the Toyota concern (Toyota, Lexus and Scion) immediately took 10 prizes in 18 nominations.
The German brands Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi took JD Power 6, 15 and 20, respectively.
Manufacturers are different about the results of the study, the newspaper writes. For example, the BMW representative manager says that the Bavarians trust only internal research, which, at the request of the representative office, conducts GFK: "There are BMW positions on top."
A source in Hyundai says JD Power estimates reflect the company's efforts to work on car quality and brand image. In his opinion, the rating will certainly be used in marketing programs to promote the brand, primarily Hyundai Elantra.
American automakers, despite the difficult financial situation, are actively working on increasing the reliability of their cars. On average, the quality of models produced by Detroit Troika - GM, Ford Motor and Chrysler, improved by 10%. David Sargent, Vice President of JD Power for the research of Auto market, calls this a necessary condition for success in the long term.
