Alexander Lebedev was poisoned with mercury

Russian billionaire and former State Duma deputy Alexander Lebedev is being treated for mercury poisoning. The entrepreneur himself spoke about this in an interview with the British newspaper Daily Telegraph. According to him, medical tests unexpectedly showed that the level of mercury in his blood exceeded the norm by 14 times.

According to Lebedev's personal endocrinologist, the level of mercury in his patient's blood is quite high. Gradually, mercury can attack the nervous system and brain, leading to memory loss.

Asked by a Daily Telegraph reporter if he thought the Kremlin was behind the poisoning, Lebedev replied in the negative. In his opinion, the poisoning is not related to politics, and the main threat to his life comes from the gambling mafia, which cannot forgive that he passed a law through the State Duma banning the operation of casinos in Russian cities.

On January 1, 2007, a federal law on the creation of gambling zones in the Primorsky and Altai Territories, the Kaliningrad Region and on the border of the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region came into force in Russia. The activities of all other gambling establishments have been terminated since July 1, 2009.
