"According to preliminary data, on Sunday, July 26, at about 17:00 Moscow time before the theater-concert hall in the Leninsky district of Grozny, an explosion occurred," ITAR-TASS reported in the Investigative Department of the SCP of the Russian Federation for the republic. The circumstances of the incident are clarified. Four people were injured, among them three policemen.

According to some reports, the explosion thundered before the concert, which was supposed to begin in the concert hall, so there were many people on the square.

"According to preliminary data, an explosive device was driven by a suicide bomber. Representatives of law enforcement agencies work on the spot," said Chechnya’s law enforcement representative.

As a result of the explosion , four high -ranking policemen died, Interfax was told in law enforcement agencies of the Southern Federal District.

The fifth victim was a Turkish citizen who worked in a construction company engaged in the construction of skyscrapers, a representative of law enforcement agencies said. “The deceased is a Turkish citizen born in 1977, who worked as an engineer in the Bora construction company,” the source said.

Later, another victim died in the hospital - a Georgian citizen. Thus, the number of dead was six.

The police did not let the suicide bomber into the hall. In the state theater-concert hall, at 17:00 Moscow time, the premiere of the performance was appointed. The hall, which accommodates 800 people, was almost completely filled.

"Police officers after the explosion opened spare exits and people were promptly evacuated, panic did not arise," said a source in the republic’s law enforcement agencies.

A group of forensicians of the central apparatus of the Investigative Committee under the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation in the Southern Federal District went to the capital of Chechnya to assist in the investigation of the explosion, the SCP of the Russian Federation said.

On the fact of the explosion, a criminal case was opened under Articles 317 (“an encroachment on the life of law enforcement officials”), part 2 of article 105 (“killing two or more persons”), Article 222 and Article 223 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal circulation of weapons and explosives, illegal production of explosive devices”).

The explosion, who led to human victims, committed by a suicide bomber in the center of Grozny, testifies to the dying agony of militants, the president of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov told reporters.

“This clearly testifies to the dying agony, the convulsions of the bandits who clearly showed their true face,” Kadyrov noted.

According to him, “active actions to eliminate bandits, carried out recently in the neighboring territories, have led to the detention, destruction of more than 50 militants, including several famous gangels. Earlier today, an active participant in illegal armed groups was destroyed in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny, the Republic of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

“Near the Astra cafe at the Neftyanka stop in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny, while trying to detain the resistance, and the militant Yunus Isaev was destroyed with return fire,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.

He was a resident of the village of Goyta, Urus-Martan district.
