They want to keep school No. 1 in Beslan unchanged
The German company Knaukassel presented the mothers of Beslan with a project for the reconstruction of the school, where five years ago the worst terrorist attack in the modern history of Russia took place. All these years, the government of North Ossetia was deciding what to do with the dilapidated building. The option proposed by the German builders satisfied everyone. They are going to mothball the school in the form in which it is now.
As the chairman of the public organization “Mothers of Beslan” Susanna Dudieva told a Vremya Novostey correspondent, dozens of people still visit the site of the tragedy every day: “Whoever came with an opportunity, then comes with their family. And one day schoolchildren from Naberezhnye Chelny and Chelyabinsk saved up money and flew They came to school and cried. They told us that they had wanted to visit Beslan for a long time. But they didn’t save up for a hotel for a long time. So I wanted the officials to come too. Affairs of Russia Rashid Nurgaliev.-- Ed. ) held meetings on the fight against terrorism not in the Kremlin, but here. Because the authorities began to forget about the tragedy."
The Beslan mothers monitor the fate of the surviving hostages. Some are treated, others are taught. And they say that sometimes it is very difficult to achieve something from officials. About 30 children from Beslan study at the Podmoskovny Lyceum in the village of Korallovo. As Susanna Dudieva said, about a year ago the Federal Tax Service of Russia conducted an inspection at this educational institution and presented an invoice for the children’s education: “They asked for about 70 million rubles. We didn’t know what to do for a long time. But everything was resolved successfully. After a little correspondence, the government North Ossetia paid for everything. But we were still perplexed."
It turns out that all the civilians who survived the terrorist attack were outlaws. If wounded military personnel are treated and have benefits as victims of a military operation, then children and adults who spent three days in the gym and still need medical care receive it on a general basis. Because the laws do not contain the term “terrorist attack,” and, accordingly, the concept of “victim of a terrorist attack.” This, according to the mothers of Beslan, is wrong.
Therefore, they fought for five years to preserve school No. 1 as a monument, fighting off various projects for its reconstruction. Some suggested rebuilding the building. Others wanted to demolish and create a public garden. The Russian Orthodox Church hung a poster on the wall of the school with a presentation of the project of a temple on the site of the school. But not only Christians died there, but also Muslims and Buddhists. People were indignant. They say that providence decided everything for them - the poster was demolished during a storm.
The fate of the school was decided unexpectedly. Tourists from Germany arrived in Beslan. Among them was an employee of the Knaukassel company, which is engaged in the restoration of architectural monuments. What he saw amazed him. Returning to Germany, he told his colleagues about this. And the company sent a whole delegation to North Ossetia. The Germans looked, did the math, contacted the authorities and proposed a conservation project. They developed it and presented it to Russian officials and the families of victims of the terrorist attack on August 25, 2009. The project satisfied everyone. Now the “Mothers of Beslan” are writing letters to all authorities and collecting funds. North Ossetia is unable to pay the cost of all the work. But the money is being collected drop by drop. Sometimes sums of even 100 rubles come into the account. But they are not superfluous either.
In schools in Beslan and the Right Bank region of North Ossetia, in connection with the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attack and the holding of memorial events, the school year will begin on September 5 . “In educational institutions of Beslan and the Right Bank region, the academic year will begin not on September 1, as in other schools, but on September 5, after the completion of all memorial events dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attack,” the Minister of Education told the INTERFAX-YUG agency on Monday and science of the republic Valery Sozanov. He noted that all other secondary schools in the republic will begin the educational process as planned from September 1.
The first day of the school year will begin in schools with a peace lesson, where, according to established tradition, children will remember their peers who died as a result of the terrorist attack at the first school in Beslan. On September 3 at 13.05 Moscow time, when the first explosion occurred in the captured school, a minute of silence will be declared in educational institutions. Secondary educational school No. 1 of Beslan was captured by a group of terrorists on September 1, 2004. More than 1,200 people were taken hostage. For three days they were kept in a school gym filled with explosives. On the afternoon of September 3, special forces stormed the building. The attack killed 336 people, including more than 180 children.
