Two people died during the riots in Gabon, who do not subside for the third day in a row as a result of the opposition’s discontent with the results of extraordinary presidential elections. The day before, the newly elected President of Gabon Ali Bongo called for calm, ITAR-TASS reports.

He said that the police deliberately does not use tough measures and, for example, dispersed the manifestants in Portzantil using tear gas. Portzantil is the stronghold of one of the opposition leaders Pierre Mambund.

As if challenging the opposition, Bongo on Saturday was present in Libreville at the qualifying match for the 2010 World Cup. True, there was a large cordon of the police around the stadium. The country still has a commandant hour at night.

However, this did not prevent the instigators of the riots to burn the club for employees of the French oil company Total in Portzantil, after which she was forced to evacuate her foreign staff to Libreville.

Bongo was declared the winner with less than 42% of the vote, Mambundu and another opposition leader Andre MBA Obama received about 25 percent.
