Nine people became victims of the crash of the ferry in the south of the Philippines, 33 disappeared

As a result of the collapse of the passenger ferry in the south of the Philippines, nine people were killed, nothing else is not known about fate. Such updated data were brought by the Philippine Coast Guard Service, ITAR-TASS reports. Earlier, three dead were reported.

According to the coast guard, to date, 926 people from the number of 847 passengers and 117 members of the Superferry 9 ferry team, which sank on September 6 in the open sea, was saved about a hundred kilometers from the southern port city of Zamboang.

The distress signal from the side "Superferry 9" was transmitted after the ship for reasons not yet established gave the roll and began to sink. In the shortest possible time, cargo vessels located nearby came up to the aid of the ferry: MV Ocean Integrity, MV Myriad, PN 117, as well as the Boat of the Philippine Navy, which began to evacuate people with the Superferry 9, which were leaving under the water.

The ferry came out on Saturday, September 5, from the port of the Heneral-Santos of the Southern Philippine Island of Mindanao and was supposed to arrive at the port of his postscript on the island of Panai.

Water transport is the main means of communication between more than seven thousands of islands and reefs, of which the Filipino archipelago consists.

Sea tragedies are not uncommon in the Philippines. The largest of them occurred in December 1987, when about four thousand people died as a result of a clash of a passenger vessel and an oil tanker.

In June last year, in the central part of the Philippines, due to adverse weather conditions caused by the typhoon, the Princess of Stars passenger steam sank, more than 800 people from among its passengers and team members died.
