Burdened with debts of 12 billion rubles, KD Avia will completely cease flight operations from September 14. Therefore, the Ministry of Transport is looking for a new designated carrier for regular international flights from Kaliningrad. Rosaviatsia has sent several airlines, including Aeroflot, UTair and Red Wings, an offer to participate in the competition for the rights to operate flights, a Ministry of Transport official said. According to him, KD Avia has many good European routes - in particular, to Paris, Berlin, Hanover, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Barcelona, Prague, and Tel Aviv.

He only noted that it would be more profitable to transfer the commercial rights to KD Avia as a package, without splitting them between several carriers. Kaliningrad is conveniently located, it is, in fact, the "gateway to Europe", so there will be interest from airlines, believes VTB Capital analyst Elena Sakhnova. According to her, the most likely candidates are Aeroflot, since it has an excess fleet, and Red Wings, which could transport passengers for the German Blue Wings. It also belongs to Lebedev.

In the meantime, KD Avia passengers are being rescued. Those who need to return home are being taken on board by other carriers (they are entitled to compensation later). Those who bought a ticket but have not yet used the company's services can return it. Yesterday, KD Avia announced on its website the procedure for refunding money for tickets "at the place of purchase" - in the company itself, through agents, etc. Thus, approximately 20% of tickets were sold through the Transport Clearing House (TCH), an official from Rosaviatsia said. Yesterday, the head of Rosaviatsia Gennady Kurzenkov met with TCH representatives - it was decided that TCH will pay its share. KD Avia itself would like to settle accounts with passengers, but there is no money, admitted the company's general director Gennady Boldyrev.
