
The Japanese electronic giant Panasonic has developed a new generation of household lamps that can work 40-45 times longer than ordinary incandescent lamps. New energy -binding lamps will go on sale in Japan on October 21 under the Everled brand. In working condition, they consume only from 7 to 15 watts, reports CyberSecurity.ru.
Monthly Panasonic hopes to produce 50,000 such lamps, in retail lamps will be sold at about $ 4,000 or $ 40 apiece. The company's statement reports that Everled will be sold in 2010 in the USA, Europe and Southeast Asia. "The Everled lamps during operation correspond to the usual domestic 60 -watt incandescent lamps, however, they consume 8 times less electricity. Based on the fact that the average lamp in the house burns for about 5.5 hours every day, then using each Everled lamp is 19 years," Panasonic said.
According to experts, the LED-lamp concept itself is not new, however, the high price has still held these decisions from large-scale implementation. Now it was reduced to acceptable levels. Japanese experts say that Panasonic in the country accounts for almost 50% of the lighting market, so the new items have very high chances of success.
The new lamps are based on large lighting diodes. Such lamps begin to radiate a certain light when electric current passes through it. The radiated light lies in the narrow range of the spectrum, its color characteristics depend on the chemical composition of the semiconductor used in it.
Panasonic says that the lamps have a very long service life, but it is not endless - with prolonged work and/or poor cooling, the "poisoning" of the crystal and the gradual decline in brightness occurs. In addition, the radiation spectrum of lamps is quite narrow. For the needs of indication and data transfer, this is a dignity, but for lighting it is in a certain sense a disadvantage (only a laser has a narrower spectrum).
