Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev, who gave his subordinates a month on August 23 to eradicate corruption, summed up the results of the campaign. In an interview with Vestyam.Ru, he said that since that day, “4,328 employees have been brought to disciplinary liability, criminal cases have been initiated against 372 police officers, including 256 employees prosecuted for malfeasance, another 59 for bribes.” " Among the policemen against whom criminal cases were initiated are the deputy chief of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate for the Stavropol Territory, the head of the operational search unit of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Primorsky Territory, and the commander of the riot police of the Moscow Department of Internal Affairs for railway transport. Moreover, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Komi was sentenced to two years.

The new Moscow boss, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, is also working: since his appointment on September 7, three police officers have been fired for the unjustified detention of a Chinese athlete in the long-suffering Sokolniki, two were detained for drug trafficking, and one criminal investigation officer was detained for the kidnapping of a Chinese woman.

Nurgaliev said that from 2010 all employees of internal affairs bodies and members of their families will have to provide income declarations.

True, there is a feeling that the minister has only just woken up. It turns out that he was amazed by the kind of cars his employees drive - they say, many of these cars are impossible to buy on a police officer’s salary.

Other measures include new requirements for the selection, training and retraining of employees, which have already been almost developed. Among them are “verification of the authenticity of diplomas, new methods of psychological and medical examination, of course using a polygraph.”

It’s good that the minister does not claim that corruption was eradicated in a month. He says the work will continue: “We never stop halfway. And there are concrete examples of this.” The head of the department of the Center for Logistics and Technical Support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia was sentenced to three and a half years for a bribe of 700 thousand rubles. And the deputy head of the police department for the Irkutsk region and the deputy head of the police department for the Kuibyshevsky district of Irkutsk were convicted of extorting as much as a million.

These results in themselves may not be bad, but when at the same time it becomes known, for example, that the case of the brutal beating of teenagers by Sokolniki police officers has been closed, and not even a single suspect has been named, you begin to be optimistic about the overall picture, to put it mildly. , with doubt.
