The last of the leaders of the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto died

The last leader of the Jewish uprising in the Warsaw ghetto of the Second World War Marek Edelman died at the age of 90, reports the Air Force .

He was one of several hundred poorly armed Jews who rebelled against the Nazis, when in 1943 they began to send the inhabitants of the ghetto to the death camp.

The Nazi troops suppressed the uprising, but Edelman himself managed to flee and join a more extensive Warsaw uprising a year later.

In 1981, he was arrested by the communist authorities of Poland, but after the fall of communism, Edelman was elected deputy of the Polish parliament.
