For September, 117 981 cars and a light commercial car were sold in Russia. This is 52% less than in September 2008, but 6% (7074 cars) more than in August, the newspaper Vedomosti writes with reference to the data of the Automobile Producers Committee of the European Business Association.
The worst for the market behind, believes Nigel Brakenbury, president of the Russian Ford. He calls the causes of recovery the stabilization of the ruble and improve the conditions of car loan. Ford sales in September, compared with August, increased by 22%, and Brakenbury has already improved its sales forecast for a year from 1.4 million to 1.47 million cars. Next year, the company hopes to sell 1.5 million cars.
However, the representative of Avtoframmos believes that it is not worth making hasty conclusions about the restoration of the market, since the surge of sales can be explained by the seasonal factor. In September, Renault sales fell by 44%by last year, while in August the decline was 29%, says Oksana Nazarova, and this situation is repeated every year: in the last month of summer, the Autofram plant goes on a technological vacation, which is why fewer cars are entered in September.
The successful car in Russia remained the domestic Lada Priora, and the AvtoVAZ model range generally leads the rating of the best -selling cars. But the actual sales of the plant in September have been the worst since the beginning of the year - 28.1 thousand cars. It may also be associated with the expansion of the state credit state program, Kommersant cites the opinion of Mikhail Pak from IR Aton: since the proposal of foreign cars sold under the program has increased, this created additional competition to the plant.
The results of September are not a seasonal surge, but market recovery, Oleg Datskiv, Auto-dealer.ru resource development director, is better than the fact that most manufacturers sold the remains of discounts and began to sell 2009 cars at higher prices. According to the Avtostat agency, in January-April 2009, foreign cars of this year of production went up by an average of almost 25% by price lists, however, the real sales prices, as the agency’s monitoring showed, is 6-10% lower due to discount dealers.
The market and loans help - both a preferential program for which about 40,000 cars were sold in nine months of the year, and their own manufacturers' programs. Successful sales of Focus (they were sold a third more than in August) are largely related to this program, Brakenbury agrees: now about 10% of cars sold under the program are Ford Focus.
