
The plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Southern Federal District Vladimir Ustinov flew on Sunday to the Dagestan Derbent, where problems arose in a number of polling stations for the election of the mayor of the city.
As Interfax reported in the apparatus of the plenipotentiary, Ustinov intends to take measures on the spot to ensure the rights of citizens to free will during the elections of the Derbent mayor.
"Together with the republican authorities, all the necessary measures will be taken in strict accordance with applicable law," the agency’s interlocutor said.
Meanwhile, as reported by the law enforcement agencies of Derbent, about three o'clock in the afternoon there was a tense situation near the city department of the interior, where about 60 people gathered, dissatisfied with the course of the elections.
The police took the necessary measures in order to prevent gross violations of public order, said the GOVD. At the same time, one person suffered.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, currently the situation in the district center was stabilized. Additional units of the police are exhibited near the city department of the interior.
