There are “fraternal relations” between the Russian and Cyprus Orthodox churches, and the Archbishop of Volokolamsk Ilarion, the chairman of the department of external church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate (MPC MP), noted today in an interview with ITAR-TASS.
He is located in Cyprus at the head of the Patriarchate delegation at a meeting of the mixed international commission on the theological dialogue between the Catholics and the Orthodox.
“Relations with the Cyprus Orthodox Church are very good, fraternal,” said Archbishop Ilarion. “There is a complete understanding of all issues, and in the same spirit we will develop our relationships.”
Archbishop Ilarion affected the question of the construction of a Russian Orthodox church on Cyprus land. “No one prevents the construction of such a temple,” he said. According to him, at the meeting, the archbishop of the New Justinian and the whole kyprai chrysosta Ps raised this topic and said: "Please build, we will do everything that is necessary so that such a temple is." “Now it all depends only on us,” added Archbishop Ilarion.
