Europe threatens Minsk with a deterioration in relations if Belarus recognizes the independence of Abkhazia and Yuo

The possible recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia would not correspond to the spirit of cooperation and is unlikely to facilitate it as part of the Eastern Partnership policy. This was announced on Friday by the Commissioner for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Hans-Diter Lucas, speaking at the XII Minsk Forum.

The representative of the FRG FRG called the “clear” EU position on this issue, since not a single country of the European Union recognized the independence of these regions, as well as none of the other EU partners, Rosbalt.ru reports.

In turn, the Ambassador of the presiding in the EU of Sweden Stefan Ericksson called the position of Minsk, which has not yet recognized the independence of the self -proclaimed republics. At the same time, the diplomat noted that the right of Belarus is to make any decision on this issue.

Bundestag deputy Karl-Georg Wellman emphasized that the European Union condemned the path that Russia chose to solve territorial conflicts. "I doubt that Belarus recognition of loyalty to such a Russian politics would be reasonable," said the German deputy.

Recall that on the eve of the Belarusian parliament decided to create a working group to prepare for the consideration of the recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Deputies will be sent to Sukhumi, Tskhinvali and Tbilisi to study the opinion of all aspects of the conflict.

In addition, the permanent commission proposes to study the view of the Russian side on the development of relations with Abkhazia and Southern Ossetia in recent years, as well as conflict events and their post -criticism recovery. In this regard, the commission considers it necessary to meet with deputies of the State Duma of Russia. This meeting may take place during a two -day business trip (possibly from November 17 to 25) of Belarusian deputies to Russia or as part of the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus and Russia.

At the same time, the Parliament of Belarus does not set the task of considering the issue of the possible recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia this year.

Recall that Tskhinvali and Sukhumi turned to the parliament of Belarus with a request to recognize their independence last year. President Lukashenko has repeatedly confirmed that in the issue of the Russian-Georgian armed conflict in the republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia Belarus, Russia clearly took the position of Russia.

It was expected that Belarusian deputies would consider the question at the previous session (in the spring of 2009), but this did not happen. The term for consideration of this request has not yet been determined, which has repeatedly caused indignation from Russia. The last time Moscow, dissatisfied with the indecision of Minsk, refused Lukashenko to obtain another loan.
