The process in the case of the Russian Mafia began in Madrid on November 2, 2009.

Investigators, after listening to the notes, came to the conclusion that Gofstein is a member of the criminal organization headed by Kalashov. The defense of Gofstein demanded that the negotiations are excluded from the materials of the case, since they were made illegally, in violation of the secrets of the communication of a lawyer with the client. However, this requirement was rejected by the court.
During the announcement of the indictment, the prosecutor demanded 7 years and 3 months of imprisonment for Gofshtein, as well as sentenced him to pay a fine of 530 thousand euros. For Zachariah Kalashov, who is considered the head of the Russian mafia in Spain, the prosecutor asked for 12 years and 2 months of prison and a fine of 32 million euros.
