“Unfortunately, she cannot be avoided by amputation. An additional specialist from Germany will arrive tomorrow to consult doctors in the Transtin hospital in order to already decide from what place there will be amputation. Doctors are doing everything possible to keep her limbs and make good prosthetics in the future,” Grefenstein said.

Last Saturday, a trial attempt was made to withdraw an athlete from a coma. She gave a positive result and allowed on Monday to start a procedure that would take several days.

“Our Russian doctor is participating in this process,” an employee of the press service of the Bobsleya and Skeleton of Russia Lyudmila Kozlova, an employee of the Russian Federation, told RIA Novosti. “The initial reaction of the body is normal. Tomorrow, another specialist, a trauma surgeon from Germany, will come to Transhtein tomorrow, after which a further treatment strategy will be determined.”

In the hospital of the Bavarian city of Transhtein, a number of urgent operations were performed, she was introduced into a state of artificial coma. To assist in the treatment of Irina in Germany, a group of specialists of the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency arrived.

The police of the Bavarian district of Berchtesgaden have not yet called the guilty in the tragedy on the Bobslena highway in Koenigze.
