Scientists discovered the remains of the first poisonous dinosaur, which is a relative of modern birds. Sinornthosaurus Dromeoosauris was no more than a meter, but 128 million years ago, he terrified the smaller representatives of the fauna.
This happened in the north-east of China, in the province of Liaonin, on the territory of which there were more than one outstanding find. A closer study of the remains of the ancient beast showed that this dinosaur is a representative of the genus Sinornthosaurus, which can be translated as a “Chinese poultry farm”. True, Sinornthosaurus had no wings, and they, apparently, did not fly like birds.
But scientists managed to make the main discovery thanks to the well -preserved jaw of a fossilized individual. In the bones of the upper jaw were characteristic recesses, which were associated with the grooves on large fangs of the dinosaur. A similar system is well familiar to biologists, because in this way the nuclear apparatus of snakes is arranged. Scientists concluded that this dinosaur used poison when hunting for prey.
