Chateau d'arricau-Bordes estate in Gasconi (ancient historical region of France), belonging to the family of Charles de Betz, who became the prototype of d'Artagnan in the novel by Alexander Dumas “Three Musketeers”, was put up for sale for $ 5.3 million, RIA Novosti writes with reference to the British newspaper Telegraph.

The owner of the castle was Uncle de Betz on the maternal line - Jean -Paul Monteskeu d'Artagnan. Under this surname, de Batz in 1632 he entered the company of royal musketeers under Louis XIV, where he made a brilliant career, and later became the authorized face of the king. The king’s good attitude gave de Batsu to assign a count's title during his lifetime. On the basis of a three-volume man about de bace, composed by the writer Gatien de Curtil de Sandra, Dumas-father subsequently created his cycle of books about musketeers.

As stated in the material, on the territory of the estate with an area of ​​14 hectares there are a house for protection and pool. There is also a vineyard and a wine plant, the production of its own wine on which reaches 4.5 thousand bottles per year. The entire complex was restored in the seventies of the last century, when medieval buildings began to be considered historical monuments.

Four years ago, the castle was bought by the British billionaire Robert Schetler-Jones, and his wife partially converted the rooms to her taste, the newspaper said.
