Trade Unions British Airways and Lufthansa are preparing for a strike

Next week, the trade union of the largest British airline British Airways is preparing to vote regarding the start of the strike, in mid -February the same steps can be taken by Lufthansa employees, Bloomberg reports.

A new vote among the British Airways trade union was appointed after the British court banned the holding from December 22 to January 2 in protest against the future reduction of jobs and changes in labor contracts .

The reason for the dissatisfaction of Lufthansa employees was the failure of negotiations with the management of the company, during which crew members demanded to ban pilots of recently acquired companies to manage aircraft on key flights of the airline.

British Airways is going to reduce 1.2 thousand jobs until the end of March and transfer 3 thousand employees to a part -time day. The company's management also intends to reduce the number of crew during long flights from 15 to 14 people.

Lufthansa implements a plan to reduce costs by 1 billion euros annually by 2011. The program provides for a reduction in 20% of employees.

Negotiations on these and other issues took place since May and ended in the last month to no avail. According to the head of the trade union, Yan Kravitsa, the strikes will begin no earlier than February 17 - after the vote on the feasibility of holding protests is held.

According to preliminary calculations, the losses of the airline for each day of the strike could be from 10 million to 30 million pounds.
