Northern human helpers

In 2010-2011 Russian (and world) science is celebrating two anniversaries. First, the 280th anniversary of how a young Pomeranian youth, who was finally fed up with his stepmother and the inability to study, forged documents and fled to the capital (yes, at the time of Mikhailo Vasilyevich’s escape, the capital was Moscow! - until the death of Peter II). Well, a year later - the 300th anniversary of our “first university” itself, in the apt expression, “our everything”.

During these years, Russian travelers decided to remind us of two more things. Firstly, until now, Lomonosov’s route, oddly enough, has not been repeated by any traveler in our days. And secondly, we should recall those creatures that actively helped in the development of the Russian North, Lomonosov’s homeland - sled dogs.

Therefore, during the winter holidays, a group of travelers, with the help of the Russian expedition center “Husky” (headed by the famous traveler Viktor Pomelov) and coordinator Igor Panarin, made a presentation combined dog sled run along the Lomonosov route. On the section Arkhangelsk-Kholmogory-Lomonosovo-Emetsk (the birthplace of Nikolai Rubtsov) - Bereznik-Shenkursk, the publishing editor of TrV joined the expedition, whose photo report we present.
