Two residents of Voronezh were sentenced to five and six years in prison for robbing a jewelry store. This was reported on January 20 on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

39-year-old guard of the robbed store Vitaly Chukaev and 32-year-old former saleswoman Lyubov Dorokhova were found guilty of stealing 5.4 thousand jewelry worth more than 80 million rubles, as well as 4.6 million rubles in cash. According to the court's decision, Chukaev will spend six years in prison, and Dorokhova - five years.

The Voronezh jewelry store "Carnelian" was robbed in March 2009. According to the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper , investigators immediately suspected that one of the employees was involved in the crime. During a conversation with investigators, the store director recalled that in December 2008, due to her scandalous nature, she transferred Lyubov Dorokhova from the position of a salesperson to a less prestigious position in the chain of stores. The director suggested that the former saleswoman could have committed the robbery out of a desire for revenge.

A few days after the robbery, Dorokhova and Chukaev were detained. The stolen jewelry was found in the security guard's garage.

Lawyers for the convicted told the KP journalist that they intend to appeal the verdict. According to the defense, the court unreasonably did not take into account the fact that the criminals have three minor children. Journalists learned that in the last two years Dorokhova and Chukaev were in a love relationship. However, whether their three children are common is not specified.

Residents of Voronezh were jailed for stealing jewelry worth 80 million rubles
