A new, budget, but modern car, which the head of the ONEXIM group, Mikhail Prokhorov, intends to produce, can cost 8800 euros, and the path of the future model from the plan to the conveyor will cost about a billion dollars.
The press secretary of the Prime Minister Dmitry Peskov announced the project to launch production on a fundamentally new basis of the low-budget city car "using advanced technologies. The most interesting quotes on this topic are given by the site "Headings.ru" .

“ONEXIM” Prokhorova really wants to develop a car from scratch, a source familiar with Prokhorov’s plans confirmed Vedomosti . “The basic principle is to develop a universal platform and choose such a component base, so that, as from a designer, it is possible to assemble a sports car, a mini -van, and a sedan,” he says.
A government official told the newspaper that it is proposed to take a five-door hybrid with a universal body, developed jointly with Yarovit-Motors in St. Petersburg. The target price of this machine is 8900 euros.
At first, “Yarovit” was engaged in this project on his own, offering to use the car during the Sochi Olympics. Having not received financing of the state, Yarovit began to work with Prokhorov.
The auto industry has never been in the sphere of interests of Prokhorov before. Many are engaged in the development of a budget car for developing markets, including Russia: the GAZ, AvtoVAZ, Toyota, Volkswagen and other automakers have plans. “So far, we are not satisfied with any project due to the high cost of the car, and the budget car in retail should cost less than 10 thousand dollars,” said Elena Matveeva, deputy chairman of the GAZ GAZ group.
The budget car should be massive, its production should reach up to 500 thousand cars per year. The total cost of the project can reach up to $ 1 billion, says Elena Sakhnova, analyst VTB Capital.
It should be noted that the ONEXIM group is one of the largest private investment funds in Russia, focusing on investments in the mining industry, real estate, innovative projects in the field of energy and nanotechnology. The head of the holding Mikhail Prokhorov is a major shareholder in the company "Pole Gold" and OK "Rusal".
The main problem for the new car is the lack of quality components
The intention to produce hybrids or electric cars is a global trend, and absolutely all the largest auto-concerts (General Motors, Volkswagen, Renault-Nissan alliance, Daimler, Mitsubishi, Toyota and a number of Chinese automakers) have already stated that they will begin their release in 2011-2013, but not one of the Russian Russian Car manufacturers have not announced such plans, according to the publication "Kommersant" .
Kirill Tachennikov from IR Otkritie notes that Mikhail Prokhorov has no experience in the automotive industry or investments in the auto industry. However, he is actively interested in various innovative projects, is a member of the presidential commission for the modernization and technological development of the Russian economy, as well as to the observation council of the State Corporation Rusnano. Mikhail Prokhorov, a partnership in a new project surveyed by the newspaper, did not offer any of the newspaper.
The federal official, familiar with Prokhorov’s plans, says that the entrepreneur is ready to finance the project within two years, the amount of financing will be up to 100 million euros. This is excluding the creation of capacities for the production of new machines, the interlocutor of Kommersant said.
The St. Petersburg plant "Yarovit" can become the site, he adds, but the wishes of the federal authorities will also be taken into account. For example, "a problem region can be chosen, where it will be necessary to employ people." AvtoVAZ, as a platform for the production of compact machines, which Mr. Prokhorov is talking about, is not considered, says the source of the publication.
The biggest problem will be faced with Mr. Prokhorov and his partners is the lack of high -quality components for the production of a new machine, says Kirill Tachennikov. The most expensive component of the same electric car is the battery, continues Mikhail Pak from Aton, and, despite the fact that there are developments in Russia, in fact, no one makes it. Finally, adds Kirill Tachennikov, the declared price of the car - 8.8 thousand euros - is large, because foreign car concerns already promise the release of such vehicles at a price within 10 thousand dollars.
Forbes: Low -Buying cars in Russia have tried to launch three times already
The automobile project of Mikhail Prokhorov is the third, during the presidency and premiership of Vladimir Putin, an application for the creation of a small low -budget car with companies that are not related to automobile production, the website of the Forbes Russia writes.
In 2005, a project of large-scale production of a mini-car in the Krasnodar Territory was launched. The company "Caucasus-M" was created, which announced the start of construction near Krasnodar car assembly production. The partner was the American company Venture Industry, which declared itself as a large style developer and the concept of new cars and the builder of prototypes.
The Chairman of the Board of the company "Caucasus-M" Vladimir Tokarev then stated that the Mishka model with a plastic body will be taken as the basis, which was created as a prototype a few years before. In connection with cooperation with the Americans, the model was renamed Michael. The machine was supposed to be sold at a price of $ 3,500, investments in the project were supposed to amount to about $ 400 million, and they were supposed to pay off in four years. To do this, it would be necessary to sell at least 200,000 "Michael" per year.
Experts were not inclined to consider the project seriously, but already in 2006, the Caucasus-M received a plot in the Adyghe Republic for the construction of the plant. “Our project will actually become a city -forming for Krasnodar and one of the most important for the whole south of Russia. That is why it is developing with the assistance of the presidential envoy in the Southern Federal District,” said Vladimir Tokarev.
According to him, the project had a private investor. In addition, it was assumed that a quarter of cars would be “social”, that is, at least part of the costs of them was to subsidize the state. In 2007, a trial batch of Mishka was supposed to appear, but the plant was never built. Recently, a trial began in the Krasnodar Territory: Vladimir Tokarev is accused of attempted murder.
The initiator of the second similar project was the former world chess champion Anatoly Karpov. They were going to take the “OKU” as a basis, but then everyone stopped at the same “Mishka”. Karpov created the company "Tula-Mishka-Moscow", in which he headed the board of directors. He then told Forbes that he owns 55% of the company, but did not reveal other investors.
It was about the production of a car that could be sold for about 4 thousand dollars. As Karpov suggested, the main purpose of the car was to be social, that is, as in the previous project, it was assumed that at least part of the money would be provided by the state.
The company rented part of the territory of the Tula combine plant. The assembly line was never built. In relation to the combine plant, a bankruptcy procedure has recently been initiated.
