Tigipko is ready to become the prime minister of Ukraine

Sergey Tigipko, who took third place according to the results of the first round of the presidential election of Ukraine, said that he would not refuse the post of prime minister in case of receipt of such an offer from President Yulia Tymoshenko or President Viktor Yanukovych. This was reported by UNIAN.

“If someone-President Tymoshenko or Yanukovych-will be able to gather in parliament the parliamentary majority and offer me the position of prime minister, I will not refuse this,” he said.

At the same time, Tigipko noted that he was not interested in the position for the sake of employment, and he is ready for public agreements on this subject exclusively for a package of reforms that must be carried out in the country. Tigipko noted that in the state it is necessary to modernize both politics, and the economy, and the social sphere.

He noted that he would not stay away from these processes and therefore will not abandon the position of prime minister. Tigipko also emphasized that all negotiations should be carried out absolutely publicly. “I won’t go to any undercover conspiracies before the second round or after the second round,” he said.

Earlier, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko officially proposed Tigipko the post of prime minister in the event of her victory in the second round of elections. "Having analyzed the programs of all presidential candidates who took part in the first round, having carefully studied all the proposed reforms, their consequences, comparing the programs of presidential candidates with my program as a presidential candidate, I want to officially offer Sergei Tigipko the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine after my victory in the presidential election," Timoshenko said to the Kiev airport "Borispol" before departure in the Khmelnitsky and Vinnitsa regions. She added that she expects an answer from him to the second round, so that voters had the opportunity to decide before voting.

According to the results of the first round, the first place was taken by the leader of the "Party of Regions" Viktor Yanukovych, who scored 35, 32 percent of the vote. Yulia Tymoshenko was the second from 25.05 percent. Both politicians said they were ready to give Tigipko the post of head of the Cabinet.
