The alley near the Pearl Hotel in February is a bizarre sight: evergreen shrubs hang over benches littered with snow. It does not come to anyone in the head. “It is difficult to imagine another place that is just as little suitable for relaxation by the sea. Moreover, literally from all points of view: infrastructure, transport, climatic, socio-demographic, price, ”wrote one of the pioneers of the Russian Internet in his blog, Anton Nosik, whom fate also brought in these February days in Sochi. Local residents are accustomed to these inconveniences, for them the main news of the last days is the appearance of curly pelicans listed in the Red Book in the sky above the city. Ornithologists explain that usually these rare birds winter in the pre -Caucasia, but in especially cold winters they move to the Black Sea coast.
A week before the grand opening of the Olympics in Vancouver, while the pelicans flew from the mountains on the coast, the author of these lines overcame his distance in Adler's city: if someone is not in the know, from the airport to the village of Kudepst - seven and a half kilometers, it took them exactly one and a half hours. At the same time, nothing extraordinary seemed to happen in Adler: for example, the blue “Lada” with the inscription “Armenia” under the license plate, and the city stood up in front of a turning light, and stood up. The “six” this - upon closer examination - turned out to be the same age as the Moscow Olympics, and before Sochi, it turned out, she was not lucky to survive.
So that the participants and guests of the games do not experience such a nightmare, a bypass road around Adler and the railway line is being built, so that the new airport is connected with Sochi and Red Polyana in two ways - one additional highway can not do. The new, modern airport, nominally opened two years ago, is still involved only on the occasion of the arrival of the VIPs-Person or the Olympic Commission. For them in Sochi - a special regime.

When Sochi received the right to the Olympics, the inhabitants of the city were attacked - they thought that money would pour money to them now and life would turn into a fairy tale. It turned out, however, that not for everyone. The rules of the game began to rewrite on top-and the bottoms quickly began to regret that the Olympics did not get to any of the competitors-Austria or Korea.

And so, they say that until the summer we’ll stretch out. ”
And this unfortunate studio will be demolished because the technique driven to the construction of the road should be located somewhere near it-while there is no road itself. For some reason, no one thought about this in the City Council. Therefore, the general plan was redone quietly, but hard.
“Our garages are 15 years old, and our documents were in perfect order. In vain, by the way, now everyone is trying to bring down on the Communists, with something, and with the bureaucracy everything was established-they only in the first year of construction of the paper have checked about five times, no less. And everything went without complaints, ”says the driver Victor. -But now it suddenly turned out that the former chairman of the cooperative once unoarded the permission to operate somewhere, that is, it was possible to stand buildings, but it is no longer possible to use them for their intended purpose. And from the deceased, what will you ask ... In short, they offered us 100 thousand “RE” for a new permission to reset, and half, no less, already pensioners, “grandmas” cannot be lifted to them. ”
At the site of the garage cooperative, they want to put everyday life for those who will ensure order in the city in the winter of 2014-eight more should be added to two and half thousand local police. In total, the 2014 game, according to the Organizing Committee of the Olympiad, will serve 113 thousand people. Of these, 75 thousand are volunteers. Where these volunteers will be placed is a separate issue. Neither the organizing committee, nor even the ordinary citizens have an answer to it.
In general, the issue of compensation for the Sochi residents is the most sick and terribly long -term solved. During the time that passed since the Victory Day, residents learned the division of the Land Code on the alienation of land for state needs. And they even tried to bargain with the state. And they explained to numerous appraisers that $ 10 thousand per hundredths of land on the seashore are laughter. And what, where they are going to reset them, there should be not only the Earth, but at least some infrastructure-hospitals, kindergartens, shops, after all! And to someone, the sovereign people even made concessions-in the Imereti bay, $ 70 thousand were promised for a hundredth. On the site of the community in 130 houses there will be an Olympic park, and they are supposed to take them nearby, in the village of Nekrasovskoye. And the cottage village is almost ready there, but they cannot give spacious plots, and people do not want to settle on six, maximum eight hundredths. And it seems that they will be the first to receive a fair price for relocation.

Red Road

But they break in Sochi and the surroundings, after all, then to build. Both along the whole road to Krasnaya Polyana, and in the Imeret Valley there are no longer only fences with wagons - construction goes day and night. Even in the summer, a stable legend was walking around the city that they will still not have time to build for the deadline, since it is impossible to engage in design for years, so they will sell the Olympics - yes, the same Koreans. Now, when foundations arise in the foundations, another joke was born: they will compete and leave for two weeks, we will not be fond of these winter views, and how many markets will have to be opened in these stadiums! Although in fact it has already been decided to make most Olympic objects with collapsible, after the Olympiad these structures will “leave”, but the Sochites do not yet believe this: they will be erected from a plastic designer?

Summer service for winter

However, the Olympic objects are outside the city. And Sochi itself, as a winter resort, is not perceived - and that’s it! The entire service is sharpened exclusively in the summer. And some Armen misses under the oilcloth roof of his shooting gallery: brother, go shoot, huh?! But for some reason it does not shoot even in the rain even at a plus of ten, as in this February. And most likely, the same plus ten (degrees-there, degrees-here) will be 2014. * * Average February temperature in Sochi: +9 degrees - another, +2 - at night. Water temperature +6. Humidity - 70%. And Armen complains to you: in the season, the rental of a shooting range costs him 350 thousand rubles in five months. And over the winter, he lays fewer “stolnik”-and barely return to him.

Do you know how much the dishwasher in the construction of the Olympic village in the Imeret Valley gets, for example? 30 thousand rubles - before there were no such salaries in winter. But if you are going to get there, then keep in mind: the dinner there lasts about four hours, several thousand people are required to feed, hot water threatens to end at any time, and the detergents are not enough catastrophically. Light also can go out at any time. Two power plants under construction should help out, but they will go into line already on the Olympics, but for now you have to suffer.
They suffer here with everything. Arthur’s design road designer to Krasnaya Polyana complains: “We have a very peculiar, soft soil.
