"Stories of Shukshin". Directed by Alvis Hermanis (Latvia). Starring Chulpan Khamatova, Evgeny Mironov, Yulia Svezhakova, Yulia Peresild. The performance is based on ten stories by Vasily Shukshin. Alvis Hermanis showed the distance we all have from each other: he and his Latvian artist Monika Pormale from Russia, the Moscow actors from the residents of the village of Srostki, all of us from rural life in the 60s. But, probably, it was precisely this distance and detachment, which he carefully maintained in his production, that helped him stage a performance that was much more Russian than that of most domestic directors. EXHIBITIONS

Chaim Sokol. "Dead Letters" Exhibition of the youngest of the Russian artists included in the main project of the 3rd Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, which was recently held in Moscow. In the Dead Letters project he explores the theme of missing letters. Through the metaphors of dead mailboxes and letters that have lost their addressee and sender (that is, “dead letters”), the artist communicates the rupture of the historical fabric, the lost connections with the past. Semyon Faibisovich. "Obvious." A large-scale exhibition by Semyon Faibisovich, covering the last two periods of the artist’s work: the painting project “Obviousness” of the first half of the 90s of the last century and the cycle “Razgulay”, created recently when the artist returned to painting after a twelve-year break. "Moscow. 1957." Photos by Leonard Gianadda. The exhibition included a unique collection of reportage footage from the VI World Festival of Youth and Students, to which 22-year-old student Leonard Gianadda arrived as part of the official Swiss delegation as a reporter for the Illustre newspaper. Footage of the festive extravaganza is adjacent to everyday street scenes and images of ordinary Muscovites of that time, no less valuable for history: here are soldiers patrolling the streets, and crowds in the subway, and the faces of people who survived the war and years of repression, and then witnessed what shook the country and the world XX Congress of the CPSU.
