IKEA is suing because of the Earth under the shopping center "Teply Stan"

IKEA began a trial with Senator Vadim Moshkovich, who rents land for the Mega Teply Stan shopping center. The Swedes signed a rental agreement for 49 years in 1999 with the previous land owner, and after the plots were acquired by Moshkovich, they refused to rewrite the contract on new terms.
For the landowner, the tenant is disadvantageous: only in 2010, the “scale” should pay 70 million rubles of land tax, and IKEA payments do not even cover this amount, Kommersant writes.

According to the Swedish newspaper Expressen, which refers to the protocol of the IKEA board meeting, the Mega Teply Stan shopping center is the most profitable for the retailer in Russia. IKEA planned to expand the area of ​​the complex, but "faced an unresolved issue of land ownership": part of the site under the "Teply Stan" is rented from the company "Large", affiliated with a member of the Federation Council Vadim Moshkovich. The landowner invited IKEA to redeem the land for 1 billion Swedish crowns, or $ 137.8 million, but the Swedish concern refused, and the case was referred to the court.

As the Kommersant recalls, IKEA has already encountered the land problem in Moscow. In 2003, the Swedes acquired 8 hectares of land in the village of Abramtsevo (103rd kilometer of the Moscow Ring Road), but it was not possible to coordinate the construction of the complex of the company - the site turned out to be part of the territory contested by the Losynie Island park.

Having enlisted the support of the prosecutor's office of the Moscow region, the park tried to receive this land through the Federal Arbitration Court of the Moscow District. In the fall of 2007, IKEA managed to find a buyer for problem land: 8 hectares were sold to the Sportmaster group, and the operator himself acquired 50 hectares in the neighborhood, next to the village of Plobbievo, the Mytishchi district.

The Swedish company IKEA was founded by Ingvar Camprad in 1943. In 37 countries of the world, about 300 IKEA stores work. The revenue in the financial year, which ended on August 31, 2008, is 21.2 billion euros. The first company’s store in Russia opened in March 2000, now it has more than 20 IKEA stores and mega shopping centers.
