The mayor of Smolensk will remain under arrest

The mayor of Smolensk Eduard Kachanovsky, accused of bribery, was left in custody. The Smolensk Regional Court rejected the request to change the preventive measure.

According to the investigation, Kachanovsky demanded from the director of the construction organization a three -room apartment worth more than 2 million rubles in a new house - for issuing permission to put this house into operation.

Together with the head of the city, two of his accomplices were arrested - deputy mayor and an employee of one of the private security enterprises.

Kachanovsky became the mayor of Smolensk a year ago, before that he was a deputy of the regional Duma.
