“Phoenix” has not been revived

At the end of February, NASA again tried to catch signals from the Mars Phoenix probe. And again it was not possible to detect the polar station.

The probe, which landed near the northern pole of the Red Planet in May 2008, was searching for the Mars Odyssey orbiter. During the week from February 22 to 26, it flew over the place where the station spent the winter 60 times. As in November 2009, the search ended in failure. Apparently, the Phoenix did not survive the Martian winter, but, in general, they didn’t really count on it.

At the same time, the Phoenix itself is clearly visible. In July-August 2009, the frozen probe was photographed by another apparatus, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
