Celebration of Mathematics at Moscow State University

The mathematics holiday was first organized in 1990. On February 14, 2010 it was held for the 21st time! More than 3,000 schoolchildren and their parents gathered for the event. A huge number of enthusiastic students, mathematics teachers, teachers did everything to make this day bright, eventful and unforgettable for both schoolchildren and their parents. While the schoolchildren were solving problems, the organizers entertained their parents. Despite the fact that the Olympiad was announced for schoolchildren in grades 6-7, even third graders took part in it.

The geography of participants was very wide. Guys from Moscow and the Moscow region, Voronezh, Apatity, Kursk, Cheboksary, Kostroma, St. Petersburg, Ivanovo, as well as from the cities of Ukraine - Kharkov and Kyiv came to MSU. After the Olympiad, the guests of the holiday were treated to an analysis of the problems. However, the celebration, of course, was not limited to the Olympics. After the analysis, all the guests went to play. The children and their parents laid down mathematical parquet, built towers out of paper, tried to get out of difficult rope situations and were simply delighted with the idea of ​​paving a large green circle with the help of small white ones. To maintain the festive mood, the children received prizes, candies and balloons for all competitions.

Mathematical cartoons about various interesting and unusual aspects in mathematics were shown to everyone. For example, the guys learned that you can drive not only using a round wheel, but also a “square” and “triangular” one! There was a lot of unusual things in the interesting lecture “Mathematical Etudes”. The most exciting part of the holiday awaited the children in the evening. The winners and runners-up were awarded certificates, diplomas and received books as gifts. Interestingly, among the winners who received a diploma was a third-grader from Moscow.
