Mariinka will show the world's first ballet in 3D

The Mariinsky Theater of St. Petersburg prepares a unique gift to ballet fans - April 15 at 19:30 Moscow time Mariinka will present the world's first direct television of ballet in 3D format, Interfax reports.

The program of the gala concert, which will be broadcast in a three-dimensional image, will be opened by the head of the Mariinsky Theater Valery Gergiev and the famous ballerina Maya Plisetskaya. And the stars of the world ballet: Ulyana Lopatkina, Irma Nioradze, Alina Somova, Igor Zelensky, Leonid Sarafanov, Anastasia and Denis Matvienko - will present fragments of legendary productions from the Golden Fund of the theater.

“Having introduced the world of the opera, the world of ballet, the world of classical music in the format of high -clay television, we made a very serious, large -scale movement forward,” Valery Gergiev shared plans. “3D is very interesting. The ballet performance is a movement, these are costumes, these are beauty, it is plastic and we will be the first ballet team in the world in the format of volumetric image.”

General Satellite will help organize the first broadcast of the Mariinka ballet. The signal will be transmitted in an open format, so any viewer from Russia and Europe, which has the necessary 3D equipment, will be able to see the “voluminous” ballet.

Solemn evenings with the viewing of the Gala concert of the Mariinsky Theater in 3D format as part of the celebration of the Year of Russia in France and the year of France in Russia will be held in Moscow and the residence of the Russian ambassador in Paris. Also, a special platform for viewing 3D broadcasts will be equipped in Moscow.
