“Politicians Through the Eyes of the Media,” a joint project of “Vremya Novostei” and the “Medialogia” company, are ratings of political figures who are most actively discussed in the federal press and on central TV channels.“Politicians through the Eyes of the Media” are published weekly: over the course of a month, you can sequentially familiarize yourself with the ratings of governors of the Russian Federation, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, ministers of the Russian Federation and heads of foreign states and governments. The ratings are also published on the publication’s website: www.vremya.ru.
The ratings reflect both the total number of publications per month and the level of information favorability in relation to each political person. The Information Favorability Index (IFI) is calculated based on the nature of references to a person (positive, negative, neutral), the significance of the message and the influence of the media.

Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov took first place both in the ranking for information information and in the ranking for the number of messages. His statements in connection with the terrorist attacks in the Moscow metro were widely covered in the media.
Second place in the ranking in terms of quality indicators and sixth in the quantitative rating was taken by the governor of the Kemerovo region, Aman Tuleyev . Second place in the ranking by the number of messages and seventh in the ranking by IBI was taken by the President of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov . Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko took third place in the ranking in terms of the number of messages and fourth in the ranking in terms of quality indicators. Media publications positively assessed Ms. Matvienko’s desire to sort out the tax problem that prevents small and medium-sized businesses from purchasing premises leased from local authorities.
