A resident of Mexico was arrested for transferring his two children to a creditor who owed 25 thousand pesos (1900 US dollars). The 20-year-old father initially stated that unknown people attacked him on the street and abducted his son and daughter. As his father said, on May 18, unknown people attacked him, who beat him, grabbed the children and disappeared in an unknown direction. Javier Kovarrubias was arrested in the neighboring state of Idalgo after 10 days after the beginning of the investigation, realizing that the police were doubting about the version put forward by him, tried to hide.

Investigators, having studied the records of outdoor surveillance cameras in the area where, according to his father, there was an attack, found out that there was no abduction, and the man had inflicted a wound for himself. As a result, the young man was forced to admit that he had given the son of Darien and daughter to a woman to pay debt.

The deal was made in Mexico City. According to the man, he knows almost nothing about this woman. He also handed her a bag with diapers, meals and some clothes for babies, CNN reports.

According to the police, Kovarrubias was arrested as part of an operation to search for missing children in Mexico. Communicating with reporters last Sunday, the Mexican said that he was repenting and hoping that the police would soon find his children.
