Russian President Dmitry Medvedev first visited Chechnya as the head of state. He arrived in the republic on a working visit on Monday. During the trip, Medvedev has planned meetings with the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov and a meeting on the problems of the region, ITAR-TASS reports.
Immediately after arriving in Chechnya, the Russian president went to the Center and laid flowers to the grave of the first chapter of the Republic Akhmat Kadyrov. “I could not help but come here,” he said. “I worked with Akhmat Haji when I worked in the presidential administration. We stood out shortly before his death, and then Akhmat -Haji introduced me to Ramzan.” Then he met with representatives of the clergy that awaited him at the memorial.
The meeting on the occasion of Medvedev’s arrival was attended by the First Deputy Head of the Kremlin administration Vladislav Surkov, the head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov, Deputy Prime Minister-envoy of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin, President of the Republic Ramzan Kadyrov and almost the entire composition of the Chechnya government.
In general, the president noted positive changes in the security state of the republic. This topic was one of the central during the president’s visit. “The fight against bandits does not stop, and in recent years good results have been achieved,” Medvedev noted.
The head of state paid special attention to socio-economic issues. "There is a special target program for the socio -economic development of Chechnya for 2008-2011. There is an approved amount of financing - 120 billion rubles. We need to see how the money is allocated, how they are expended, what is done to reach target indicators and what needs to be done further, including with the volume of the program after 2011," the president explained.
In addition, he noted the support of the real sector enterprises, in which some difficulties still remain. However, according to the head of state, "if earlier it was about the restoration of the real sector, then its development should currently take place." This may require both state investments and some preferences. In some cases, this applies to agricultural enterprises, and in others - subsidizing part of the interest rate on the loan .
In relation to the agricultural sector, the president also noted that the update of the motor transport fleet is necessary. Low technical equipment is currently the main problem of the agricultural sector in Chechnya.
Along with this, Medvedev visited social facilities in the republic, in particular, the republican ambulance hospital. “What we saw looks decent, but here you need to decide on the priorities,” the president commented.
