Doing business in Russia is still dangerous: anyone can be killed or maimed. One of the latest examples - on June 7, 2010, an attempt was made on the life of 55-year-old businessman Oleg Polishchuk in Moscow. Despite his injuries, the businessman not only detained the shooter, but also got him to give his initial testimony. However, the Cheryomushkinsky prosecutor's office and the court released the killer, considering him a hooligan. The Novaya correspondent met with all the participants in the events and tried to find out from the failed killer who ordered the businessman for him.
assassination attempt
The vicinity of the metro station "Teply Stan", about 8 am.
“I just left the garage and turned onto the road,” says businessman Polishchuk. - Then a young guy with crazy eyes runs up and starts to shoot me in the head from point-blank range with the Wasp. Glass fell, I covered myself with my hands. The flame burned his eyes. One bullet shattered the hand, the other forearm. And two hit the trim and headrest.
Shooting back, the young man took off running. Despite his injuries, Polishchuk rushed after him and overtook the criminal:
- I knocked him down, sat on horseback and called the police on the cell phone. The guy began to cry and wail: “Let me go, please. I'll tell you who hired me."
The shooter turned out to be a graduate of the Nakhimov military school, 20-year-old Sergei Galaiko. The Nakhimov resident told the arriving operatives from the Teply Stan police department that he had purchased a traumatic pistol at the Prague market and allegedly agreed to kill a businessman for one hundred thousand rubles: he committed the crime to pay for expensive treatment for his sick mother.
He also named Galaiko the names of two intermediaries who had given him the order. The first is a familiar security guard named Dmitry, the second is a certain Sergey, who is moving in a Mercedes-220, introducing himself at meetings as an employee of either the FSB or the Foreign Intelligence Service.
“Most likely, the shooter was tasked with either neutralizing Polishchuk for a couple of months, or making him disabled,” Yevgeny S., an operative from the South-West Administrative District, shared his thoughts.
Prosecutor's office
The next day, Polishchuk and his lawyer Alexander Rodionov arrived at the Teply Stan police station. They hoped that in hot pursuit, the operatives had already detained intermediaries and, possibly, established the name of the customer. However, the police told them that the prosecutor of the Cheryomushkinskaya prosecutor's office, Yashenkova, considered Galaiko an ordinary hooligan and let her go home on bail. In addition, the Nakhimov man had already managed to refuse his initial testimony and put forward a different version of what had happened. According to new testimonies, the situation was as follows: Galaiko spent the night with some married woman, with whom he quarreled in the morning. On the way home, he found a traumatic pistol and, being frustrated, began to shoot at trees. Galaiko could not explain how four bullets hit the businessman's car.
In addition, Galaiko was returned a cell phone and a SIM card, which he had specially purchased from the market, although they could tell the operatives a lot. For example, it was possible to find out who the shooter called up. (It is known that, having been taught by bitter experience, criminals, when they go to work, now acquire fake numbers, and throw away phones after a crime.)
Until now, the data from the surveillance cameras installed at Polishchuk's house have not been attached to the criminal case. Although in the initial testimony, Galaiko told in detail how he tracked down the businessman for three days. These testimonies are available in the department of inquiry of the Teply Stan police department. It is possible that accomplices could appear on the footage. According to Polishchuk, a suspicious guy was spinning around in a Zhiguli (the license plate number is in the editorial office), he was interested in the fate of Galaiko and even allegedly gave him some signs.
“I can’t understand the logic of the prosecutor’s office,” lawyer Rodionov throws up his hands. - After all, Galaiko can be removed at any moment - the only thread leading to the customer of the crime will break.
It was not possible to contact the prosecutor Yashenkova. The secretariat told us that Valentina Mikhailovna is a very busy person - she does not have time for unplanned communication with the press.
Killer
I tried to talk to Sergei Galaiko himself. Unfortunately, there was no frank conversation.
“I will not communicate with you,” the shooter said at the meeting. “And if you don’t leave my yard now, I will call my friends.
But some episodes of his biography still managed to find out. After graduating from the Nakhimov School, Galaiko got a job as a security guard at the Paveletskaya Plaza shopping center and entered the full-time department at the Moscow Academy of Finance and Law (customs department). Education at MFUA is quite expensive - and this somehow does not fit with the status of a poor student. By the way, the teachers diligently pretended not to know the student Galaiko. But the students themselves have already heard about the shooting and are vigorously discussing what happened. Many do not believe that Sergei went to crime for the sake of money. According to them, when he entered the university, he was a sociable guy, but then he became withdrawn and constantly wore dark glasses.
The shooter's mother (Galina Ivanovna) previously worked as the head of warehouse terminals at Khorezm LLC and SIM CJSC. She lived with her son in Zelenograd. After the divorce, she moved to the Warsaw highway area.
According to one source, the student's father, Vladimir Galaiko, graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the Lvov Higher Military-Political School, moved to Russia, worked at Gazprom, the Krasnaya Zvezda and Rossiya newspapers. According to other sources, Galaiko Sr. works in the central office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in a responsible position.
Victim
Oleg Polishchuk belongs to the category of romantic businessmen:
- Well, why should I live by some concepts? The businessman rubs his wounded hand. “I don’t want to pay officials, cops and bandits!” In business, the most hardworking and persistent should win.
Do you still think so? I'm interested.
— Has anything changed? The bullets hit me in the arm, but not the brains were damaged.
As it turned out, Polishchuk's company plans to build a trade and exhibition center near the village of Salaryevo. But apparently, someone really doesn't like Polishchuk's commercial plans. According to our source in law enforcement agencies, this land has views: businessmen working under the "roof" of the Armenian organized criminal group, a former official from the administration of the Moscow region (now on the run) and the leadership of a Moscow commercial bank.
Shortly before the assassination attempt, Polishchuk received threatening phone calls. Before the threats, there were denunciations from "local residents", prosecutorial and police checks. We made inquiries about the authors of anonymous letters. As it turned out, there are no people with such surnames among the inhabitants of the nearest villages.
— I can guess who could order me. But let the investigation figure everything out.
It is very interesting how the investigation will figure it out if the prosecutor for some reason considered the shooter a bully and released him along with all the evidence. In any case, this is not even the most important thing: the lives of two people - the businessman Polishchuk and the killer Galaiko - are in real danger.
* The barrelless pistol "Osa" is designed for self-defense at short distances. The initial speed of the bullet reaches a speed of about 140 m / s. According to official statistics, 15-20 Russians die every year after the use of "Wasp" and 1.5 thousand become disabled.
Questions to the prosecutor of the Cheryomushkinskaya prosecutor's office, Yashenkova, who did not want a personal meeting:
- Why have not certain Dmitry and Sergey, who allegedly transferred an order for a businessman to Galaiko, been identified and interrogated yet?
- By whose order was Galaiko returned the cell phone and did not make the details of telephone conversations?
- The head of security in the Polishchuk house is ready to present video footage from outdoor surveillance cameras. How much longer does he have to wait for the official representative of the Cheryomushkino prosecutor's office?
- Why was Polishchuk denied protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs? Do you think that nothing threatens the life of the student Galaiko?
