The streets of Verona lead her to the "Juliet's courtyard", where the girls sob on the chest of a copper statue, write tearful letters to Juliet about unhappy love and stick them to the wall. Sophia, who seems to have nothing to cry about and write about, simply enters her observations in a notebook in order to publish them in the New Yorker. And that evening, she finds herself in the back room of a small trattoria, where four women answer fools in love on behalf of Juliet. Sophia begins to help them and discovers a half-century-old letter with a return address in a brick wall. Further - almost along the "Amelie". Sophia undertakes to do good deeds and a week later she is already traveling around Italy with a charming old Englishwoman and her grandson. They are looking for a man with whom the Englishwoman broke up in 1957. For us, the only thing that is surprising in this story is that for more than 50 years the Englishwoman has not changed her address. The rest, though never happens, but still happens.

This unadulterated "girls only" romantic road movie is utterly naive. Naivety - in the unconditional belief that the old love does not rust; there are old-fashioned girls in the world who care about other people's old women; ideal grandchildren who are ready to rush to the ends of the earth with their grandmothers, and grandmothers themselves, who have retained a girlish smile and girlish feelings at the age of 70. And in the fact that nothing will happen to these grandmothers at the most crucial moment from the fullness of feelings and, waving a white bouquet, they will go down the aisle with a handsome grandfather who galloped on a black horse, and his grandchildren will not twist their fingers at their temples and assert that grandfather finally lost his mind. "Letters to Juliet" does not put pressure on the viewer's lacrimal glands, but, on the contrary, well-known motives whistle carelessly and gently, whether they are old Italian pop songs or old romantic movie themes. Secondary in this case does not matter. Against the backdrop of the vineyards, hills and cypresses of Tuscany floating in the hot air, everything seems as tasty as rustic bread soaked in olive oil and tart homemade wine.
