| Mikhail Leontyev predicts the imminent collapse of overseas tycoons and the entire American way of life in his expensive propaganda opus “The Great American Hole.” America suddenly discovers a dozen Russian spies close by - all the news broadcasts report this. “NTV people” are excitedly discussing whether Russian literature is dead or will live a little longer. Mata Hari of the domestic assembly, Russian Anna Kushchenko, aka Anna Chapman, is rapidly becoming a sought-after media personality, and another beauty, Lena Lenina, who has not been offended by the media for a long time, cheerfully writes book after book and persistently speaks on behalf of modern writers. Patriarch Kirill, in the final news of the day, calls on priests to watch the great film about the great war together with parishioners, because it is permeated with the Christian spirit. Claiming at the same time that those who criticize him are completely devoid of this spirit. Only the World Cup brings revival - with spontaneity, sincere passions and lively, uncomposed drama.
These pictures, in addition to the summer heat and stuffiness, are presented to viewers by the producers of a television kaleidoscope in which only fragments of reality flash. Whether someone else's or our own, she is little recognizable. Like in the song: it looks so much like Russia, but still not Russia.
Yuri Shevchuk made an attempt to talk honestly and directly about real Russia in a conversation with the Prime Minister during his meeting with cultural figures. However, television created its own plot from this, which was not at all similar to what actually happened.
You could find out the truth from the Internet. As Tatyana Tolstaya rightly noted in the “School of Scandal,” where the guest was the talented journalist and deep conversationalist Andrei Loshak, the Internet is a society, television is a state.
Attempts to turn real life into a smooth television picture end up backfiring: new programs appear, there are no new meanings and no real success.
The new TV season, which ends as usual in the middle of the calendar year, has not become something truly necessary and important for viewers. Quite calmly and quietly, the initially sensational “School” by Valeria Gai Germanika came to an end, losing its drive and sharpness by the end. The grandiose celebration of Victory Day left in memory only a beautifully shown parade and the unbearably vulgar attempts of home-grown show business stars to sing war songs. It did not become a breakthrough to the new “Channel Five”, where the talk show “Freedom of Thought” only imitates freedom and thoughts, endlessly prolonging completely uninteresting discussions. The episodes of Svetlana Sorokina’s “Program Guide” turned out to be too long and not very interesting. With the exception of perhaps a program with the participation of Sergei Sholokhov, dedicated to Sergei Kuryokhin, a unique multi-musician and generally an all-round talented person. Dmitry Bykov, despite all his fiery temperament, paints his “Oil Painting” so sweepingly, about everything and nothing, that the goals and objectives of this talk show are no longer clear. The presenter Andrei Makarov looks better than others, at least because he does not shout or be rude, like other famous masters of this genre. He is unfailingly polite and knows how to manage a discussion, but his talk show is increasingly becoming an opportunity to showcase himself. The emphasized pathos of sincerity seems feigned, and the word “show” turns out to be key, the content is much less important. The conversational genre is actively proliferating on all TV channels, without adding any real seriousness or fun to them. The extremely uncharming “Girls” with their memorized barracks jokes carefully destroy the very concept of humor. The more expensive the new shows of the two quite witty Gariks - Martirosyan and Kharlamov - become, the less lightness and reasons they have to laugh heartily.
By the way, about the show. An example of the genre was demonstrated by Vadim Takmenev in the program about Lyudmila Senchina “Confessions of a Crazy Cinderella.” A frank story about the fate of a famous singer is packaged in an elegant concert package, but does not look vulgar and tasteless, as most often happens on our TV.
Ordinary concerts of singers and comedians, which endlessly show RTR-Planet and Channel One outside the two capitals throughout our large country and beyond, interrupted by very rare broadcasts of smooth news, leave the impression that Russia is a special territory inhabited single-celled creatures who do not need anything except primitive melodies and the same jokes. There are no major problems and nothing ever happens. There are only two pressing concerns: building Skolkovo and hosting the Olympics. Olga GALITSKAYA | |
