Moscow Arbitration rejected the largest lawsuit against Ukraine for $ 23 billion

The largest lawsuit against Ukraine of a citizen of Russia Anatoly Semeni in the amount of about $ 23 billion on July $ 5 was rejected by the Moscow Arbitration Court, the newspaper Kommersant-Ukraine writes.

The seven demanded to compensate for the harm caused by the illegal debit of shares belonging to him (control package - more than 1 million papers) of the Ternopol Vatra OJSC, which is engaged in the production and sale of lighting equipment.

The Moscow court did not consider the case, since the dispute was not subordinate to the arbitration court, the ruling is noted.

In addition, on June 16, Ukraine received an application for judicial immunity - the recovery of property indicated in the lawsuit is allowed only with the consent of the competent authorities of the state. “I will not dwell on this and I will turn to other courts,” Anatoly Semini said in response.

Previously, Semeni had already filed a lawsuit against Ukraine to the Commercial Court of Kyiv. He accused the authorities of damaging him as a shareholder of the "vatra" by "encouraging the criminal activity of a group of persons" related to a change in the composition of shareholders and transferring the assets of the enterprise to another legal entity. But the court rejected the claims of the plaintiff.

Semeni's lawsuit was the largest among the requirements for Ukraine. He became known about him after on the behalf of Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov, the Ministry of Justice announced a list of all such claims - this is 14 cases totaling $ 26.5 billion and 45 million euros. The prime minister emphasized that the majority of claims against Ukraine were filed with international courts in 2005-2009 under the government of Yulia Tymoshenko.
