A criminal case has been opened in the Moscow region into the murder of a famous scientist, former first deputy director of the Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) Gennady Pavlovets. As the Investigative Committee of the Prosecutor's Office (SKP) of the Russian Federation reported, “the body of a 70-year-old adviser to the TsAGI directorate, Gennady Pavlovets, with signs of violent death, was discovered the day before at about 8:00 p.m. in a country house located in Zhukovsky after extinguishing a fire.” “According to preliminary data, the day before at lunchtime he left TsAGI to go home for lunch and after lunch did not return and did not answer phone calls,” the Moscow Region investigative department of the SKP reported. In the evening, his country house in the TsAGI Union gardening non-profit partnership caught fire. “When clearing up the fire in the kitchen, the body of the owner of the house was discovered. During the inspection, multiple stab wounds were discovered in the neck, chest, abdomen and arms,” the investigation department added. Gennady Pavlovets, after studying at MIPT, was assigned to TsAGI. In the 90s he became the first deputy director of TsAGI for aerodynamics and flight dynamics. It was reported that he participated in the development of the Tu-334 airliner. This aircraft was not included in the state aviation development program until 2015, giving way to the Sukhoi Superjet 100 project. In 2010, shortly after Boris Aleshin was appointed general director of TsAGI, he left for the position of adviser to the directorate of the institute.
