The destruction of unique collections of the Sochi All-Russian Research Institute of Floriculture and Subtropical Crops continues [1]. According to order No. 513-r dated June 17 of this year, signed by Deputy Head of the Federal Property Management Agency P.A. Potapov, the right of permanent use on the area currently occupied by collections of varieties of subtropical crops - hazelnuts, tea, feijoa - is terminated. This order does not provide any new land.
On July 20, bulldozers will enter the territory of the nursery, where scientists are trying to preserve the remains of already destroyed collections - rooting petioles that cannot be touched, especially in 30-degree heat.
In the meantime, as the editors of the “Trinity Option” learned, a meeting was held between the institute’s management and the leaders of the city of Sochi (in particular, the mayor A. Pakhomov) and the Krasnodar Territory (V. Sh. Abulgafarov - director of the construction department, A. A. Lavrentyev - deputy Director of the Construction Department, D.Kh. Khatuov - Vice-Governor). The result of this meeting was an insistent demand to extinguish the flaring scandal, even to the point of threatening to close the institute itself. We were unable to receive any official confirmation of this, or new reports about what was happening.
And RIA Novosti reported on the seizure of land for the benefit of the housing stock from the Pavlovsk experimental station, located near St. Petersburg [2, 3]. The foundations of the collection of fruit and berry crops were laid by Nikolai Vavilov. On July 15, the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal is scheduled to consider the complaint of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Growing named after N.I. Vavilov against the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court regarding the transfer of the land plot of the Pavlovsk Experimental Station to RHD.
The trend, however.

“Arguments of the week”: Independent ecologists say that during the design and construction of Olympic facilities in Sochi, the resort’s ecosystem is actually being destroyed. Is it so? Are these statements exaggerated?
Corresponding member RAS Victor Danilov-Danilyan: I try to avoid commenting on these problems. You can write anything, anywhere about violations there. But this is not even the voice of one crying in the wilderness. This is the squeak of a mosquito during a force nine storm. Sochi, unfortunately, is a separate taboo topic until 2014. Nothing can be changed anymore. And it is impossible to solve the problem of providing everything needed to hold the Olympics in the remaining time without serious environmental violations. Therefore, there is no point in protesting!
