Academic football

While Ekonomov’s colleague is on vacation, swimming in the warm sea, and we are suffering here in the heat, there is nothing left to do but write about football, and academic football at that. Surely, fans of this wonderful sport, glued to television screens during the World Championships in South Africa, did not notice an important event that happened on June 10, 2010. On this day, we had a friendly mini-football match between the teams of “old people” and “young people” : members of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Council of Young Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The venue for such an interesting competition was the hall of the sports complex of the Moscow Veterinary Academy. K.I. Scriabin.

After wishing each other success, the teams began the game. As part of the SMU RAS, Maxim Prozhega and Nikolay Tatus played in defense, Vera Mysina and Vsevolod Kireeva were promoted to attack. Ilya Tikhomirov defended the gate with a threatening look. However, despite the threatening appearance of the goalkeeper, the academicians were the first to distinguish themselves. Having taken a convenient place in the attack, with the support of Mikhail Sevostyanov, Valery Vasilyevich Kozlov wrote his name in the history of our football and scored the first goal. Subsequently, the meeting was held with the advantage of the Presidium team, with constant attempts by young scientists to even the score. The result is disappointing - 6:3 in favor of the Presidium. Vsevolod Kireev, Nikolay Tatus and Maxim Prozhega scored a goal each for the SMU RAS team. In the last minutes, Maxim Bykadorov could not sit on the bench, deciding to try himself as a goalkeeper. This didn't save the team. In the Presidium team, Valery Vasilyevich Kozlov and Mikhail Sevostyanov scored three goals each.”

Yes, the situation with the selection of football personnel in the Council of Young Scientists is bad. “The defeat spurs SMU RAS to revenge, which will take place in the fall. So far, experience has proven to be stronger than youth, but we’ll see in the future,” notes a message on the website yras.ru. The Council of Young Scientists needs to approach the return match more thoughtfully. In the remaining time, it is urgently necessary to hold a mini-football championship among youth teams of the SMU of 9 branches, 3 regional branches, as well as 15 regional scientific centers of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Using a knockout game, determine the strongest team and field it against the team of forward Kozlov. Perhaps this team will turn out to be so strong that Russia will send it to the next World Cup. Our Council of Young Scientists will show it to everyone.
