Context

Yesterday in Ulyanovsk, a picket took place on Lenin Square in front of the regional government building in protest against the intentions of the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Sergei Morozov, to rename Ulyanovsk to Simbirsk, which he again spoke about at the recent youth forum on Lake Seliger. The organizers of the picket were three professors: Doctor of Technical Sciences and Chairman of the Board of the movement “For a Decent Life!” Vladimir Efimov, member of the board of this movement Isaac Grinberg, Honored Inventor of the USSR, laureate of the USSR State Prize, Doctor of Technical Sciences, member of the board of the movement “For a Decent Life!” and first secretary of the Ulyanovsk regional committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Alexander Kruglikov. The mayor's office did not approve the picket in front of the regional government building and suggested another location, citing the fact that mass events would be held on Lenin Square at that time. Nevertheless, the picketers came to the declared place. The police did not disperse the rally, which was attended by about 50 people.
