Accident in the Irkutsk region: six dead

A large traffic accident occurred in the Irkutsk region. According to RIA Novosti in the regional center of the Ministry of Emergencies, the KrAZ truck crashed into the Toyota Noah minibus. As a result of the car accident, six bus passengers died, three more were injured.

A message about the accident at the 22nd kilometer of the Aleksandrovsky tract at the lapel to the village of Urik received at 10.25 local time. According to preliminary data, the driver of the KrAZ was the culprit of the car accident. At the left turn, he did not give way to the minibus riding in a direct minibus, the traffic police said in the regional department.

In connection with the frequent accidents involving passenger buses on February 24, the government adopted a decree according to which the seats in intercity buses should be equipped with seat belts. The issue of equipping buses with seat belts has been raised more than once, in particular, at a meeting on road safety problems, which President Dmitry Medvedev spent on August 6, 2009 after a number of serious accidents on Russian roads.

The largest of them was the accident on the Don highway, passing through the Rostov region and the Krasnodar Territory. On July 24, 2009, a bus "Ikarus" and oil locomotive collided on this road. 21 people died in a car accident, eight were injured.
