A couple of months before the invasion, the garden management was accused of non-compliance with fire safety standards. By a court decision, the research institution was closed to visitors. Director of the Garden-Institute of the Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biology, Professor Alexander Galanin, who resigned in protest against the construction that had begun, does not exclude that the court's decision to close could be the first step in a construction expansion scheme developed by someone.

“I don’t have the strength to look at this barbarity, banditry, cynicism and arrogance,” Alexander Vladimirovich told Novaya Gazeta. - All appeals to law enforcement agencies ended with a recommendation to call a district police officer.

“The pre-investigation check on arbitrary actions is being carried out by police department No. 6 of the Internal Affairs Directorate of Vladivostok,” said Vladimir Kolesnikov, the prosecutor of the environmental prosecutor's office. - Based on its results, a decision will be made.

Over the past ten years, this is the second attempt to enter the territory of the Botanical Garden. The first one was unsuccessful. It was initiated by the governor of the region Sergei Darkin, who proposed to build a zoo on the territory of the garden (he promised the voters a zoo). The scientists refused.
