By decision of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation, the date and venue for the third edition of the national Super Cup have been set - on October 23, the local Zenit and Belgorod Lokomotiv-Belogorye will meet in Kazan.
According to the regulations, the Super Cup goes to the winner of the match between the national champion and the Russian Cup winner, but since both of these trophies were won by Zenit last season, their opponent will be the silver medalist of the super league Lokomotiv-Belogorye.

Eight teams are participating in the tournament, but none of them stopped fighting after the group stage. The hosts of the competition showed a good result. The Nizhnevartovians won two victories, upsetting Fakel (3:0) and Dorozhnik (3:2), but lost to the Surgut team in the Ugra derby (1:3).
Pisarev headed the youth football team
Nikolai Pisarev has become the new head coach of the Russian youth football team. In this post, he replaced the former coach of the youth team, Igor Kolyvanov, under whose leadership the team was unable to qualify for the 2011 European Championship and the London 2012 Olympic Games, gaining only one point in the last two matches of the qualifying round against the Romanians.

When compiling the list of nominees, the results of the athletes’ performances this season were taken into account - at the European Championships, the Winter World Championships, Diamond League series tournaments, as well as other competitions. Only in exceptional cases were two athletes represented from one event.
The winners will be determined by voting, and the awards will be presented on October 16 in Belgrade. Let us recall that previously three domestic athletes were awarded such a title - Irina Privalova (1994), Svetlana Masterkova (1996) and Elena Isinbaeva twice (2005, 2008).
YOG organizers exceeded budget by $200 million
The Singapore government recently published a financial report on the results of the first Youth Olympic Games (YOG). According to the document, the costs of organizing the competition amounted to about $288 million, which is 200 million more than the originally planned budget. Singapore's Minister for Community Youth Development and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan said the government had underestimated the situation and this had led to the budget being incorrect. About $30 million was spent on food and accommodation for YOG participants alone.
Nevertheless, according to the minister, the organization of such a large-scale event will have a positive impact on shaping the image of Singapore in the eyes of the world community. “Singapore will be remembered as the country that hosted the Youth Olympics. The funds invested in infrastructure and construction of sports facilities were not wasted,” Balakrishnan added.
A chess blitz tournament will be held in Moscow
Seven representatives of the top ten in the world chess ranking will take part in the final of the World Blitz Championship in Moscow. The tournament will take place on September 17-18. The prize fund of the competition will be 10 thousand euros in the semi-finals, and 50 thousand in the finals, RIA Novosti reports.
“This will be the first world blitz championship in modern history. A similar tournament was held in 1992, and it is very pleasant that 18 years later it will be held in Moscow,” said world champion Alexandra Kosteniuk. World chess leaders Alexandra Kosteniuk, Nadezhda and Tatyana Kosintsev (all Russia), Humpy Koneru (India), Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria), Anna Muzychuk (Slovenia) will take part in the championship.
Federer will miss Davis Cup matches
Former world number one, Swiss Roger Federer, will miss the Davis Cup matches against Kazakhstan this coming weekend. According to the tennis player, after an unsuccessful performance at the recent US Open, he needs a break to stay in shape for the end of the season. “I need some time to relax after busy days in North America. I want to finish the year with a bang,” Federer said.

Sauber announced replacement of de la Rosa
